Greenvale Grizzlies – we’re going to the basketball (NBL, that is)!

Our Committee have been working hard to bring you a special deal … we have been invited to watch the Melbourne United game vs the Adelaide 36ers on Sunday 6 December at Hisense Arena (3pm tip off).

Not only are there special seating deals outlined below, but we will also receive:

There are two seating options:

Option 1: We have been allocated silver reserved seating in bay 33, dedicated to members of our club only. By using the code promo code MUGV16 will give us 20% off silver reserved ticket prices and will allow us to buy our tickets individually but be automatically allocated into this active section, so we will all be seated together! Booking tickets is simple.

Annual General Meeting and election of our new club committee

Two weeks ago on Monday 24 August 2015, we held our Annual General Meeting.

The President acknowledged the long and dedicated service to club from two outgoing committee members – Lance Corby and Robert Malcolm, both of whom have contributed to the club in varied ways over many many years – thanks guys!

Our new committee was elected, then we heard updates on:

  • the upcoming new court construction at the Greenvale Rec Centre,
  • a ‘pilot’ coaches development program being developed in-house, and
  • new club branded hoodies (grey are for the club officials so you can see us when you need us on game day – black are for club members and supporters), which you can purchase through your team manager.

Please read the minutes and attachments or contact any of the new committee members for further information.

Greenvale Basketball Club Annual General Meeting – 24 August 2015

It’s that time of year again, time for the Greenvale Basketball Club’s annual general meeting. As a club we have had another successful year, both on and off the court. We have introduced a number of new players, teams and parents to the game of basketball and we now have almost 50 teams that participate each week representing our club. That equates to approximately 400 children playing domestic basketball for Greenvale. Of course this  doesn’t happen without the support of volunteers and in particular those that give up some of their time to be a part of our committee.

Over the past 5 years we have had the same group of people step forward and run our committee ensuring that all of our kids get onto the court each week. And although that same core group have done a fantastic job, it’s time to prepare for the future.

We are seeking individuals that care enough for the future of our fantastic club at Greenvale, to step forward, put your hand up and join the committee. It’s an exciting time to join… We have a brand new court just about to commence construction and have an opportunity to tap into one of the largest growth corridors in northern metropolitan Melbourne, all to get more kids on the court participating in the best game in the world.
On the evening of the AGM, we will also be holding a special general meeting to discuss and seek endorsement to transition our operating model to model rules that apply to all incorporated associations. This is expected to take no more than 15 minutes and will be scheduled to run before the AGM.
I look forward to seeing you all there on the night!
Monday 24 August 2015 – 7pm start

GBC AGM and week 2 of our finals campaign

I would like to take this last opportunity to remind all Coaches and Team Managers of the Greenvale Basketball Club Annual General Meeting which is on this Wednesday 14th August at 7pm at the Greenvale Rec Centre. It would great to see at least one representative from each of our 46 teams there to hear the summary of the past year, and support the election of our new Committee.

Strong participation in Week 1 of the Finals has already seen 17 x GBC teams go through to Grand Finals. Congratulations to those teams, and commiserations to the teams that have finished their finals campaign for the Winter 2013 season.

For the 3 x GBC Under 8 teams playing their last scheduled game this week. Upon the completion of the games, can all players, team officials, family members and supporters please proceed to the Members Bar Area under the Main Stadium seating for formal presentations.

To the 24 x GBC teams participating in week 2 of finals games this Saturday, best of luck. Please refer below for details surrounding this week’s Finals fixturing.

Regards, Paul Byron, Greenvale Basketball Club – President
