Summer 2017/18 Calendar
Summer season will commence Saturday October 14th. See the link below for the season’s dates –
Annual General Meeting 2017
Our Annual General Meeting for the Greenvale Basketball Club is being held:
- on Thursday 3rd August 2017
- from 7:30 – 8:30 pm
- at the Greenvale Recreation Centre, Barrymore Road Greenvale.
The committee is seeking mandatory attendance from every team. We recommend as an absolute minimum the team manager and coach, plus as many parents/guardians that can make themselves available. Remember this is your club!
As well as the usual formalities of reports and committee elections for next year, we will be discussing:
- Grading of teams & players
- Uniforms & merchandise
- Club support & sponsorship
- Presentation Day 2017-18

Committee nomination forms are to be returned by Thursday 3rd August 2017:

- by hand to one of our current committee members, or
- in person at the Annual General Meeting as detailed above, on 3rd August 2017.

Improving your coaching skills and knowledge
Kicking o
ff the new season, we have a lot of new coaches, coaches in older age groups or higher grades, all of which add up to … we need to increase their skills so our players can become better at theirs. Make sense?
Here are some suggestions:
- use the resources on our website – hints and tips for coaches – drills, training, plays – other handy websites
- consider attending the BBA coaching clinics
- read blogs … here’s the latest from Coach Mac – the Ultimate Guide to Improving your Basketball Knowledge
- follow YouTube – Ganon Baker (who has worked closely with Kobe Bryant and LeBron James) is a good place to start.
Update on finals dates
We have confirmed with Broadmeadows Basketball Association, that finals begin on 15 March – no play over the long weekend.
Times and venues for finals will be posted on the SportingPulse website next week.
We still encourage you to check player qualification, but please disregard any dates currently on the website that suggest that finals commence on 08/03/14.
